Schutzhund
Schutzhund is a German word meaning “protection dog.” It was developed in Germany in the early 1900s as a breed suitability test for the German Shepherd Dog.The tests determine if the dog displayed the appropriate traits and characteristics of a proper working German Shepherd and breed worthy. Today it has become a sport competition for all breeds and more of a competition between handlers/trainers.

Physical Conditioning
Since both Sport training and Conformation training calls for endurance and strength, a dog needs to be physically fit. Therefore, a fitness program is implemented as a part of the daily training routine. Having a set conditioning program helps to build up the dogs endurance and strength along with toning up muscles and making the dog look great while in the show ring or competition field. It also helps to reduce the risk of injury while working.
